Castle Educational Remodeling Tour to Rely on Technology

Castle Building & Remodeling recently announced it would host its own Educational Home Tour to compete with the Remodeler’s Showcase Parade of Homes® and today launched the website and Apple and Android mobile apps that will serve as a virtual tour guide books and integrate with smart phones map functions to give directions from home to home.  In contrast to the Builders Association of MN Castle plans to print only 5,000 tour guidebooks to keep paper waste to a minimum whereas BATC typically prints hundreds of thousands of guidebooks, many of which are never picked up from racks at Holiday Station Stores.

Castle plans to take advantage of the rapid adoption of smart phone technology and has designed their own app to help Home Tour Attendees have access to tour information at the tip of their fingers. The app features a map with directions, pictures and project descriptions of the 25 homes on tour, and contests so attendees of the tour can register to win $10,000 in remodeling and prizes. The app has been designed for both iOS and Android platforms to accommodate most all Home Tour attendees.  Rest assured paper guide books will still be available for the technologically challenged.

The 2013 Castle Building & Remodeling Educational Home Tour’s purpose is to educate and inform the public on real everyday remodeling projects, not just the largest or most expensive projects.  Each home will feature an educational topic and the goal of the tour will be to help visitors see more realistic remodeling projects and make smart decisions in their homes.

The Castle Educational Home Tour will take place September 28 – 29, with homes being open to the public from 10am – 5pm each day.  Download our app today to start planning your tour route for the weekend:
